Hi Sinead,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Wow, can I just tell you how jealous I am that you’ll be spending Christmas Day at The Most Magical Place on Earth? Magic Kingdom Park already has magic in its name, but the magic it holds during the holidays is truly something special, and I know you are going to have a joyous experience.
It’s true that Walt Disney World is usually very busy on Christmas Day, and there’s always the possibility that a park will close due to capacity. My advice is to enter Magic Kingdom Park early and plan to stay all day if possible. Guests who arrive when the park is closed for capacity cannot be allowed to enter or re-enter for fire safety reasons – regardless of whether you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort or off-property, if the park is closed, re-entry is restricted until Cast Members deem it safe.
Sinead, I checked the
Park Hours for December 25, and, at this time, it does not look like Magic Kingdom Park has
Extra Magic Hours scheduled on that day. Park Hours and Extra Magic Hours scheduling are subject to change at any time, so keep an eye on the schedule to see if this changes as we get closer to the holidays. Often during busy times, Disney will add Extra Magic Hours, although there are no guarantees this will happen. A few Easters ago, my family was able to enter Magic Kingdom Park at 7:00 a.m. and we had a fantastic time in the early morning hours. I will keep my fingers crossed for some holiday pixie dust for you!
Happy planning and Disney dreaming! Remember to read the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news about holiday offerings, and come back and see us if you have any further questions.
Wishing you a merry and magical vacation,
Robyn
