Hey there, Lynda! Welcome to planDisney! I'm SO excited that you've stopped by with such a fun Disney vacation planning question!
Lynda, you are someone after my own heart! I consider
Disney's BoardWalk Inn and
Villas my magical home away from home. I love the theming, the lively vibe, the endless nearby dining options and that oh-so-fun waterslide at Luna Park Pool. With so many recreation offerings and Resort activities, you can have an unforgettable vacation without ever even leaving your Resort! Of course, you WILL want to leave the Resort for some fun at
Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, which just so happens to be one of my favorite fun spots in all of Walt Disney World Resort. This entertaining little tiki bar simply cannot be missed! Well ... It is actually easy to miss ... Find it tucked away down the hall from
Capt. Cook's!
In my recent experience and confirmed by a most helpful Cast Member, I am happy to let you know that at this time, Guests without reservations can explore, dine and shop at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and can join the virtual queue for a coveted spot at Trader Sam's. Day Guests without Resort or dining reservations at the Polynesian cannot park in the parking lot, so be sure to make plans to take either the monorail, boat or bus over to the Polynesian. Also, please be aware that Trader Sam's allows Guests of all ages until 8 p.m., and after that, it becomes 21 and over. I suggest getting in line to get in the virtual queue at least 30 minutes before the lounge's opening, which is currently 3 p.m. Then, have a loose plan of what you'd like to do around the Polynesian Resort, as once your spot is ready, you will only have 15 minutes to return to the Grotto. I suggest shopping at
BouTiki, having a cocktail at
Tambu Lounge, strolling the beach and gorgeous Resort grounds or enjoying a delicious DOLE Whip at
Pineapple Lanai while you wait. Alooooooooha!
Lynda, in an ever-changing world, it is always a good idea to double-check that this information is still correct as your May trip approaches. Right before your trip, just give Disney's Polynesian Village Resort a call at (407) 824-2000 to make sure that this information is still accurate before you head over that way. Lynda, I am SO excited and happy for you, because it sounds like you are in for THE most fun and pixie-dusted spring adventure! Stop by any time with any vacation planning questions.
I hope to see ya real soon,
Mandy
