We're visiting in May for my daughter's 7th bDay. (our 2nd Disney trip). We only have 2 days and will spend one at Mag Kingdom but are looking for a 2nd park to visit. Any suggestions? Is Hollywood Studios a better choice than Epcot?

    Amanda:

Between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, I would agree that your gut is correct in choosing DHS over Epcot. Here's why:

    • The park offers much more for a 7-year-old girl, from The Little Mermaid to Beauty and the Beast, The Muppets to Toy Story. Most of the Disney characters that children today have grown up with are featured at Hollywood Studios.
    • Epcot is vastly more larger than DHS. You can easily see almost all of Hollywood Studios in one day with a child versus Epcot. A tired child will mean a meltdown at the end of the day... if you do decide to head to Epcot, I suggest leaving for a break in the middle of the day to rest up for a return in the evening to see Illuminations at 9 p.m.
    • Speaking of Iluminations, its show time is 9 p.m. every night. However, Fantasmic at Disney's Hollywood Studios is earlier and depending on your visit may have two showings, allowing you to keep an earlier bedtime if you choose the first show.
    • The World Showcase in Epcot appeals more to adults, in my opinion, than children. Each pavilion concentrates more on shops and food venues instead of attractions. Even those with a movie like France, China and Canada have movies that are more appealing to the older set than youngsters.

Hands down, my vote for you is Disney's Hollywood Studios.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
