Hi, Christina! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
The train enthusiast in your group is certainly in good company. Walt Disney himself was a noted lover of trains, and for that reason, railroads exist at all of the Disney park locations around the world. My family and I take a ride on the
Walt Disney World Railroad almost every time we visit
Magic Kingdom Park. Sometimes we use the Walt Disney World Railroad as a way to travel from one point to another in the park, and sometimes we just take a ride to relax and rest our feet for a bit.
I too was sad when I heard that the Walt Disney World Railroad would be temporarily closed, but the reason for the closure is quite an exciting one. The Walt Disney World Railroad is currently closed to accommodate the construction of a
new Tron attraction in Tomorrowland. The new Tron attraction is expected to debut in time for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in 2021, and it sounds like it will be amazing!
While no date for the reopening of the Walt Disney World Railroad has been announced so far, you can follow the
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest news. In the meantime, even though guests cannot take a ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad, they can still get an up-close look at the trains. The Walt Disney World Railroad is currently parked at the Main Street, U.S.A. station, and guests are welcome to stop by to take photos.
Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Samantha
