We're visiting with a large family group, including my elderly father with mobility issues in an ECV. Is there a way to get a list of attractions he can take the ECV into the standard que? Trying to plan ahead with the large group. Thanks!

Hello again, Kelly. Thanks for coming back to planDisney with another great question. I’d be happy to help you again and see if I can go two for two with helping plan the practically perfect Walt Disney World vacation.

Disney has worked hard over the years to ensure that all Guests can enjoy the parks, and that includes those with mobility needs. In fact, there is an entire section of the Walt Disney World website dedicated to accessibility, covering everything from disability parking and ECV rentals to accessible transportation and attraction guides. The part that will be most helpful to you is the breakdown of attractions based on mobility requirements. It details which attractions allow you to remain in your wheelchair or ECV, which require a transfer from an ECV to a standard wheelchair, which require a transfer from a mobility device to the ride vehicle itself, and which require Guests to walk independently.

Even better, if you click “Learn More” under the “May Remain in Wheelchair/ECV” section, it will take you directly to the Walt Disney World Rides & Entertainment map with that option pre-selected. This allows you to see every attraction where your father can stay in his ECV. From there, you can use the “Accessibility & Advisories” filters to tailor the information even further. You can also filter by specific theme park, which makes it easy to create a running list for your family on your phone or notes app to keep handy during the trip.

I hope this helps you feel confident in planning your family’s time together in the parks. With a little preparation, you’ll find that the accessibility resources make it much easier to coordinate with a large group. And don’t forget to set a reminder for those Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections, which you can make up to 7 days in advance if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel or 3 days in advance if staying off property. Dining reservations can be booked at the 60-day mark, which is another key milestone you won’t want to miss.

Kelly, it sounds like you and your family have a wonderful trip ahead of you. If you have any other questions or want more assistance as you continue to plan, you know where to find me here at planDisney.

    See you real soon,
    Brent
