Visiting in June 2014 for our 15th Anniv. with 2 boys (6,8). Plan to stay at POR for 6 nights but BCV for last 4 (Anniversary part). We are using Disney transportation. How difficult is it to switch between resorts mid trip? Does this affect dining plan?

Howdy Heather! Let me begin by saying, "Happy Anniversary!! What a magical way for you to celebrate!

Disney makes resort transfers a simple and seamless process. You are wise to ask about your Dining Plan. Because you will be staying at two separate resorts, you will have two separate reservations and two separate dining plans as well.

Moving from one resort to the next is very easy. When you are ready to check-out of Disney's Port Orleans Resort, contact the Bell Stand and let them know you need your luggage transferred to Disney's Beach Club Villas. They will collect your items and give you a receipt. Your luggage will be transferred to your new resort and delivered that afternoon. Be sure you keep items you will need that day with you throughout the day.  Once you give your items to the Cast Member at Port Orleans, you will not have access to your luggage again until it is delivered to your villa. We typically pack a collapsible cooler bag and freezer packs if we know we will need to move cold items. While Disney does offer cold storage at the resorts, you will need to a way to keep cold items cold during the transfer.

One very important note: do not close your account when you change resorts. Simply depart and go enjoy your day! If you close your account, you will not be able to do a room charge or finish using your Disney Dining Plan entitlements from your initial Dining Plan. If you are going to need the Dining Plan entitlements from the second resort on the day of your transfer, you will need to check-in at the new resort so they can activate your reservation.

We love doing split stays. It gives us the ability to enjoy the amenities and locations of multiple resorts and enhances our vacation.

Thanks so much for your question and please let me know if you need any further information as you continue planning your vacation Once again, I wish you an early HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
