Hey, Noreen!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. There is nothing like a trip to the great outdoors … wait … I was staying at
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. What an amazing and relaxing experience! It is less expensive and, in my opinion, equally if not better than a stay at its neighbor, Disney's Contemporary Resort.
My kids were 11 and 7 at our most recent visit to Disney's Wilderness Lodge and they had a blast. The Pacific Northwest decor with giant totem poles and a huge fireplace in the lobby transports you to a rocking chair breathing in the mountain fresh air. My kids played all day in the Silver Creek Springs Pool, tetherball on the beach and hiking through the woods to the Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds to visit the blacksmith at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. We played catch on this hiking trail and saw the best view of Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower with Space Mountain sandwiched perfectly between them. Artist Point and the Whispering Canyon Cafe are fantastic. Please ask for ketchup at
Whispering Canyon Cafe...it's a hoot!
Transportation to Magic Kingdom Park is a simple and relaxing 15-minute ferry ride and about 25-30 minutes bus ride to all other major Disney theme parks.
Please note that this resort is being refurbished into 2017 and that more details are noted on the Disney's Wilderness Lodge web page.
Disney Dad Tip: Recently, we did a Hidden Mickey Hunt that we got from the front desk at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. This took us all over the resort to find those tricky Mickeys. My kids were rewarded with a Disney pin for their persistence and success.
Noreen, enjoy making many Magical Memories!
