Greetings Denise,
I'm thrilled to hear you'll be traveling to Sunny Southern California for the Independence Day Holiday, especially if you're making plans to visit the Happiest Place on Earth!
The Disneyland Park usually hosts a 4th of July-themed Fireworks presentation but depending on where you'll be staying, you can have a good view of the show outside of the Park.
If your 2-year old likes Cars, then you should plan to spend time at Cars Land inside the Disney California Adventure Park!
You will be completely charmed by Radiator Springs and feel like you're actually in the movie when you enter! Plus, you can count on meeting Lightning McQueen to make your son's experience more memorable!
Holidays are generally very busy at the
Disneyland Resort and in my experience, the crowds tend to gravitate more toward Disneyland during peak days.
If you're not fixed on taking pictures in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle or enjoying a Dole Whip for dessert, then I would plan to spend the day at California Adventure.
At California Adventure, your little one will love to splash around Princess Dot's Puddle Park; he'll enjoy The Little Mermaid~ Ariel's Undersea Adventure; test his skills on
Toy Story Midway Mania! and love the Carnival games at Paradise Pier.
Plus, there's the awesome
Disney Junior Dance Party and the Disney California Adventure is currently hosting its
Summer of Heroes!
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Enjoy your trip!
