Hi Julie!
So glad that you decided to send us this sweet question! Especially since it is about
Gideon’s Bakehouse, one of the newest sweet shops to grace
Disney Springs. I see what all the hype is about...those cookies are almost as big as my head! Then again, they ARE half-pound cookies, so I guess it makes sense that they would be big!
Since my daughter has a peanut allergy, we always try to be very vigilant about a restaurant’s protocols regarding the use of nuts in their kitchens. Sounds like you are thinking the same thing for your cousin and wanting to ensure his or her safety.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Gideon's Bakehouse is not the one you are looking for when it comes to ensuring a nut-free environment. In fact, their website says, “ All of our products contain eggs, dairy, gluten, wheat, and in some flavors, nuts. They are prepared in a kitchen where all items love and work together. Protection against cross-contamination cannot be guaranteed.” That’s enough for me to take a hard pass as the mom of a child with a nut allergy.
Based on all the information I have seen, a viable option for your cousin that will also satisfy a sweet tooth is
Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC. The bakery recommends that when ordering from their allergy-friendly menu items, Guests may consult with a chef or special diets trained Cast Member before placing an order. Most families who have a loved one with allergies simply rave about this location for its allergy-free options. As always, use due diligence when ordering and always ask questions.
Now I’m craving cookies, so I think I will go do some baking right now! I hope that you will send us more planning questions if you have them. We are always thrilled to talk about our favorite destination, the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Bon Appetit!
Sherry
