We are visiting in July. What do I need to do in advance to visit the parks. Do I need to make park reservations?

Hello, Jennifer! It's so exciting that you'll be visiting Walt Disney World in July. It's a beautiful month to go. Hopefully, you will be scheduling some much-needed pool time during your vacation as well to cool off from the Florida sun.

To visit the Walt Disney World theme parks in July, you will need to do a few things. First, I would recommend checking out the Walt Disney World theme park availability calendar. The theme parks are operating at a limited capacity at this time and you must now make a park pass reservation to visit. This calendar is going to show you if there is any theme park availability for the days you'd like to visit. The calendar is broken down into three categories - Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, Guests with theme park tickets only and Annual Passholders. Be sure to look at the calendar that pertains to you as they do have different availability. After you've checked out the availability calendar, the next step is to purchase your theme park tickets. Currently, you have two options. You can purchase a standard theme park ticket that allows you entry into one Walt Disney World Theme Park per day or you can purchase a standard theme park ticket with the park hopper option which is going to allow you to enter multiple Walt Disney World theme parks in one day. After you've purchased your tickets, you'll need to link them to your MyDisneyExperience account. If you don't have one, it's very quick and easy to set one up. After you've linked your tickets, the next step is to make your park pass reservations. You'll head over to the park pass reservation website and select, "Make Park Pass Reservations". This will take you to a page where you can select your party. Then you'll be directed to a calendar and that's where you'll select the day you are wanting to make a park pass reservation for. Next, you'll select the park you want to visit and then if there is availability you'll be taken to a confirmation page and asked if you'd like to make another park pass reservation. If you are visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks multiple days, you'll need to do this process for every day you plan to be there. I know it seems like a lot of steps but I promise it's a very easy and automated system. It will walk you through each step.

If you do choose tickets with the park hopper option, I thought I'd let you know that park hopping looks a little bit different than it did before. Currently, to park hop you must have standard theme park admission with the park hopper option and make a park pass reservation for the first Walt Disney World Theme Park you'd like to visit each day. Then on the day of your park pass reservation, you'll need to scan in and enter that first theme park before park hopping later in the day. Park hopping hours are now from 2:00 p.m. and last until each park closes in the evenings. Throughout the day, you do not need to make multiple park pass reservations to park hop - just that initial one.

Jennifer, I hope this helps set you up to have a great vacation at Walt Disney World. If you have any other questions about your trip, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm here to help!

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
