Hey Linda,
Thanks for submitting another question to planDisney! We love helping guests plan their Disney vacations, and I am so excited to help you plan a special celebration, especially with cake!
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes can be added to dining reservations at the time of booking. Once a reservation is made, there isn’t an option to add the cake through the website or app. Instead, you can submit an in-person order at the restaurant’s host stand at least four days before your reservation, or you can ask if there are any same-day cakes available once you check in to your dining reservation. If you are certain that you want the celebration cake at your
Steakhouse 71 reservation, I would recommend making the cake request four days in advance. If you need an excuse to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort before your reservation date, you could always ask your family to take a ride on the monorail from Magic Kingdom to see the monorail resorts. The
Contemporary Resort has some shops and a great view of Magic Kingdom, and there is also a bathroom near the restaurant, so it might be the time to declare that everyone take a bathroom break while you make your sneaky visit to the host stand!
You can also preorder a specialty cake from
Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs. You can place your order up to 30 days before your visit, but they do not deliver the cakes. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, I also recommend visiting their Quick Service dining location. I have often seen the Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes available in the refrigerated sections, although they don’t seem to be offered for
Mobile Ordering through the Walt Disney World app at this time. Picking up the cake at the Resort is perfect for taking it back to your hotel room and sharing it together.
I hope this helps with your surprise celebration, Linda. Have the most magical visit to Walt Disney World with your family. Don’t forget to pick up a birthday celebration button for your daughter at one of the Guest Relations locations or Disney Resort Front Desks. It’s just another way to sprinkle pixie dust for her special day. If you have any more questions, please come back to see us again at
