We are visiting in a few weeks. I know Orlando has thunderstorms during the heat of the summer. If a ride is closed due to the weather and your have a FP during that time, what happens? Do you lose your FP for are you able to use it when the ride reopens?

    Hi Maureen!

The weather indeed in the summer in Orlando can be quite interesting and challenging when visiting locations such as Walt Disney World. In the summer months you can just about be guaranteed there will be some afternoon rain or thunderstorms.

If possible, I recommend getting your FastPasses for outdoor attractions early in the day. This is especially true for the outdoor thrill rides such as Thunder Mountain, Expedition Everest, Splash Mountain, and Test Track. These will be the rides most affected by weather closings later in the day.

If an attraction has to close down due to malfunctions or weather you will have the option to choose another attraction to enjoy during that time or return later in the day in hopes that one will reopen. You will be notified and then can make the decision. If you do choose to do something else and use your FastPass during that original time you will lose the opportunity to use it for the closed attraction later so it is a decision that needs to be thought about carefully.

Usually weather delays are short but you don't know. If something closes due to weather it is a good idea to check your local weather forecast and radar to see if you can determine if it will be a long term issue or something that is just passing through. Cast members will only be able to tell you that it will reopen when possible but they will never give you a time so it is a decision you have to make on your own.

I hope  you don't have any closings or delays during your vacation!
