Happy Halfway to the Holidays, Christine! And welcome to planDisney, where we merrily answer all of your Disney vacation questions!
We are a little over six months until the big day and I'm so happy you are busily planning your trip to the Walt Disney World Resort during the jolliest time of year! There is nothing like Disney for the holidays, and to top it all off, you are celebrating a third birthday as well. I'm going to try to not put exclamation points at the end of each sentence in this answer, but as you can probably tell, it's going to be hard! Look, there I go again!
First of all, the decorations at the Walt Disney World Resort are out of this world. Each theme park has its own unique decor. From the retro-inspired decor at
Disney's Hollywood Studios to the classic decor of
Magic Kingdom Park to the animal-themed decorations at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park to everything in between, everywhere you look is absolutely gorgeous! And one of my favorite things to do is to take a tour of the monorail resorts to see their decor, especially the Gingerbread House that is usually in the middle of
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
One of my other favorite things to do is attend
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It is such a festive event that instantly puts you in the Christmas spirit. The specialty entertainment, the nighttime spectacular, and the unique character meet and greets are top-notch. However, you know your kids the best and since this is a mostly nighttime event, you'll want to decide whether or not it will work for your family. You can usually get into the park at 4 p.m. with a party ticket, but the party doesn't start until 7 p.m. If you think that's too late, you can enjoy the decor and some non-party exclusive festive treats during the daytime with a regular theme park ticket. I would, however, recommend that if you decide to go, don't go to a park during the day. Take that day to rest at your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel or visit the other resorts. Then, enjoy the party!
I'm sure your kids are going to want to meet the big guy himself! Santa Claus is often meeting at the parks and in
Disney Springs. What's even cooler is that if you visit the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, you usually see a few countries' versions of Santa throughout World Showcase telling their stories. Plus, there are the Holiday Kitchens where you can sample some delicious food while the kids (and you) listen in awe to these storytellers' tales.
Christine, keep in mind that the experiences I'm referring to have taken place in the past. While there is a good chance many of the things I've discussed will happen again during the 2023 holiday season, what's exciting about the Walt Disney World Resort are the new and surprising things that come along. So be sure to stay tuned to
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest announcements. They have already begun to reveal offerings for the holidays this year and will continue to do so as the Most Wonderful Time of the Year approaches at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
