We are visiting DLR next year w/ our 13/17 yr olds. Older one likes sleeping on the couch that change to twin bed at WDW Deluxe resorts. I’m wondering if the daybeds at Grand Californian are the same size. Do you have the mattress dimensions for GC daybed?

Hey there, Brandy, and Welcome back to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by to ask us another question. I'm happy to hEAR you will be arriving at The Happiest Place on Earth in just one month!

After reading your question, I think we need to be friends because we make the same hotel choices and you have good taste! I also like to stay at Deluxe Hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort and I know you will love Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa! This beautiful Craftsman hotel is so magical and happens to be my favorite place to stay at the Disneyland Resort! As a mom of two older kids, I can relate to planning out the sleeping arrangements. I called the hotel and spoke to a Cast Member about the dimensions of the mattress for the daybed in the resort room. Unfortunately, she did not know the dimensions and was unable to find that information for me, however, she did say it is a twin-sized mattress. I recall the size of the convertible sofa at the Walt Disney World Resort Deluxe Hotels because my older kiddo also prefers to sleep there. I would say the daybed at the Grand Californian is slightly smaller when comparing the two. I'm sorry I was unable to confirm the exact dimensions, but I hope this information helps with your planning.

I do have a couple of tips for you as you are planning to stay at the Grand Californian! If you have time in your schedule, I recommend enjoying the pools. The Fountain Pool is my favorite of the three. The lounge chairs on the pool deck are posh, the poolside menu is great, and cast members frequently check in for ordering so you never have to leave your chair if you don't want to! Another suggestion I have is to grab a reservation at GCH Craftsman Bar. This poolside lounge has become one of my favorite dining spots and is the complete package with great food and cocktails! While they feature a hot dog of the month, my family's favorites are the double-baked beef nachos, garlic-soy-glazed chicken wings, and the tuna poke bowl!

Another suggestion I have for you is to plan to see the nighttime spectaculars that have just returned! The Main Street Electrical Parade has my heart because I watched it as a little girl at Magic Kingdom Park and it is fun to see it at Disneyland Park with my kids. I also highly recommend Disneyland Forever and view it on Main Street, U.S.A. to fully experience it. World Of Color at Disney California Adventure Park also makes me cry happy tears every time without fail! Your timing is great because Fantasmic! is returning to Disneyland on May 28th! I know some might disagree with me, but I think the Disneyland version is way better than the one at Disney World because you can watch it up close!

Brandy, I'm excited for you to visit the Disneyland Resort! I'm wishing you and your family an absolutely magical vacation filled with fun, food, and many special family memories!

    Smiles,
    Lisa
