Welcome to planDisney, Barbara!
I frequently travel to The Most Magical Place on Earth with my in-laws who both use a scooter for our vacation. I am happy to let you in on some tips and tricks that I have learned on our trips.
Barbara, you will have three main options when it comes to scooters:
- You can bring your own,
- You can
rent one at the theme parks each day, or
- You can rent one through a third-party company.
Obviously, if you use a scooter on a daily basis at home, then you may be most comfortable with your own. If you are staying at an off-site location and only need a scooter for long distances, then renting a scooter in the parks may be a great option for you. Note that if you rent a scooter in the theme parks, it may not leave the park and must be returned each day.
During our visits, we stay at a resort hotel on the Walt Disney World Resort property and take advantage of the complimentary transportation, so we find that renting a scooter from a third-party company is the right choice for us. This helps eliminate walking at the resort and since all
transportation is scooter-friendly, we have no issues getting to the parks.
Barbara, you will be able to bring your scooter into most queues. Simply maneuver it through the queue and park it before you ride. While you can stay on your scooter for some rides, others will
require that you transfer to the ride vehicle.
You will also find no shortage of charging stations for your scooter should you need it. If you have trouble finding one, simply ask a Cast Member for assistance.
Oh, Barbara, one last tip! Make sure that you bring a rain cover for your scooter in case of a Florida rain shower. I find that a couple of ponchos works perfectly!
I hope that this answered all your questions, Barbara. If not, please come back!
We love to hEAR from you!
