Hi Alison!
Multigenerational trips at
Walt Disney World offer families the chance to spend time together and bond in such a splendid way! I hope your upcoming trip allows your aunt and mom to reminisce about pasts visits to the parks as well as enjoy them now.
The
theme parks at Walt Disney World do offer rental ECVs and wheelchairs. There is no reservation system or planning required; just pick one up when you enter a park. Currently EVCs run around $50 a day; wheelchairs are $12 a day.
Disney only rents scooters and wheelchairs in the parks. If your family members need one to get around your
Walt Disney World Resort, you will need to go through a third party vendor. Disney's preferred company is ScooterBug, so this business may drop off/pick up via your hotel's bell services. Other outside vendors are also an option, but you will need to meet them in person at your resort for delivery. Disney transportation is wheelchair friendly, so there is no issue taking ECVs from your resort to the parks.
Disability Services would be happy to help you with any questions. Call (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com.
A day in the Walt Disney World theme parks is exhausting for the young and exuberant, so no matter how fit and feisty your mom and aunt are, make sure they take their time enjoying the fun. A midday break for a nap (I love this practice) and a restorative sit down, table service meal each day will help all of you soak in the experience without too much exhaustion. Also consider taking a day off to rest and enjoy your resort.
Wishing you all a wonderful adventure during your visit to Mickey!
