Hello Debbie!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s so much fun to plan a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
The
Blue Bayou is an amazing restaurant! There’s a reason why it books up so quickly. It's got a unique setting filled with the essence of New Orleans. You’ll hear crickets chirp, frogs croak, and fireflies twinkle while passenger boats from
Pirates of the Caribbean cruise on by. The Blue Bayou has been serving up Cajun and Creole cuisine like Jambalaya, Gumbo and Hush Puppies since 1967. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!
A few months ago I was in your exact same situation. We were at
Disneyland Park and my son says, “Can we eat at the Blue Bayou? I’ve always wanted to eat there.” It was his birthday trip so I decided we would give it a try. There were no reservations on the
Disneyland Mobile App so I decided to try and see if we could be seated on stand by. There is a restaurant host outside of the restaurant before it opens. I asked about reservations and he told me there were none left, but to come back right at opening because even though not guaranteed, they usually have some tables available right at opening. Otherwise they book up very quickly for reservations. We came back about 20 minutes before they opened and waited for opening. There were about 4 other groups in the same boat as us, and we were all seated when they opened. So that’s my advice to you. Show up right when they open for the day and hope you can get in. I’d also have a back up plan just in case. I also want to mention that they told us we would not be able to make any seating requests like a water view, and that they didn’t know how long the wait would be. We didn’t wait very long at all and for getting in on the day of, I was happy to sit anywhere and my son got his birthday wish.
Well Debbie, I wish you the best of luck on getting into the Blue Bayou Restaurant. Keep checking the Disneyland Mobile App as sometimes people do cancel their plans.
Remember, always believe in the magic!
