Howdy, Melissa! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel and asking your question!
One of the things that I love about the Disneyland Resort is that there is a ton of things to do outside of the parks! I think planning a dinner at a Disneyland Resort Hotel is an excellent idea for your first night. The first place that came to mind when I read your question was
Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. This restaurant is all sorts of fun for both kids and parents alike. Additionally, it's the only place to have dinner with characters at the Disneyland Resort and during your travel dates, you will get to experience Disney Dinnertime Magic. Chef Mickey joins Chef Goofy to cook up some belly laughs and even more friends stop by to visit while you eat. And oh boy will you eat! The buffet here is huge and features everything from freshly-carved meats, fish, veggies, pizza, and, of course, lots of desserts! Reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 60 days advance online or by calling (714) 781-3463.
There are also great buffets at Storytellers Cafe and Disney's PCH Grill, but these dinners don't feature any characters. Additionally, there are lots of fantastic places to eat in the Downtown Disney District. My favorites include
Catal, Earl of Sandwich, and
Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria. For dessert, I always pick up a cupcake, or three, at
Sprinkles. Yum!
Please visit the Disney Parks Moms Panel again with any other questions you may have!
