We are visiting Disneyland in March. We already have a package purchased. Our daughter lives in California and will join us in the parks. Since we live in another state can we purchase the resident ticket for her to use when she joins us? She has her CA ID

    Hi there, Barbara!

Welcome back to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by to see us again. It’s awesome that you and your family are gearing up for an adventure at the Disneyland Resort. While it is much smaller than Walt Disney World, I believe you will enjoy its cozy vibe. We also have some pretty cool festivals — but more on that later. Let’s dive into your question!

When purchasing a package, all theme park tickets included must be of the same type: either Standard or CA Resident. Therefore, you would not be able to add a CA Resident ticket to your current package. Also, there must be a CA billing address associated with the card used to purchase that ticket type.

The fact that you wanted to purchase the ticket in advance for your daughter lets me know that you wanted the moment to feel special! You can still achieve that by gifting your daughter a Disney Gift Card that is the total cost of the park ticket. You can send it by mail or email. There are plenty of cute designs to add a personal, magical touch for the occasion!

Once she receives the gift card, your daughter can purchase her ticket with the proper details. Please let her know that she must also have her CA address on her MyDisney account.

Bonus Tip: Get ready to enjoy the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival that will be in full swing when you arrive. This festival has it all: music, food booths, and culinary demonstrations! Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the foodie guide. In my experience, I am often overwhelmed by the number of options, and the “fear of missing out” starts creeping in. Reviewing the foodie guides ahead of time helps me make a plan that will keep my mind at ease and ensure I experience as many food dances as possible.

Barbara, I hope this helps, and I must say, you are an amazing and thoughtful mother! You and your family are going to have the most magical time during your upcoming visit to Disneyland. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to visit us again here at planDisney.

Sending you faith, trust, and pixie dust,
