We’ll be visiting Disneyland and want to use MagicBand+. We’re familiar with going to Disney World where my husband and I have two separate accounts and are linked up together. How does that work with the Disneyland app? We also want to us our bands on DCL

    Hello there, Micheal!

Welcome back to planDisney! I'm excited that you'll be traveling to the Disneyland Resort, I think you'll discover that it has a special magic you won't find anywhere else. With a Disney Cruise on the horizon as well it sounds like you're in for a spectacular year!

Disney MagicBand+ is such an awesome, convenient way to "tap in" and enjoy all the Disneyland Resort has to offer! While you'll find many similarities to using your bands at the Walt Disney World Resort, there are a few differences as well. Because the Disneyland Mobile App doesn't have the same friends and family linking feature that you're used to in Orlando, you'll just want to link your ticket to your husband's account, and vice versa. It's pretty easy!

    • Open up the Disneyland Mobile App
    • From the main menu tap "Tickets and Passes"
    • Tap the "+" in the top right corner and choose "Link Tickets & Passes"
    • Link a ticket to your account by using your camera to scan the barcode, entering the Ticket ID Number, or tapping your phone to a MagicBand+ that is already linked to that ticket
When a ticket is linked to your account you'll be able to purchase Disney Genie+ Service or Individual Lightning Lanes for them, select Lightning Lane return times, join Virtual Queues, and view their Disney PhotoPass Photos.

One small note about photos...your bands will not automatically link your attraction photos like they do in Walt Disney World Resort parks. You'll need to look for the preview screens as you exit a ride and link the photo in the Disneyland Mobile App. I like to take a quick photo of the preview screen so I can enter the Photo ID later when I'm not at the busy exit of an attraction.

There are some amazing things to do at the Disneyland Resort that you won't find anywhere else! Attractions like Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn Bobsleds (if you're normally happy riding Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park you have a good idea of the "wild" level of this ride), and Storybook Land Canal Boats should not be missed, in my opinion. If you have time, you might enjoy Walt's Main Street Story Tour to learn more about the history of "The Happiest Place on Earth" and even visit Walt's apartment...which I know from experience is an incredibly special spot.

Micheal, when it comes to using your bands on the high seas, you should send a message to my fellow panelists who specialize in Disney Cruise Line! They'll be able to help you chart a course with your bands on the ships. But if you have more questions about visiting the Disneyland Resort (especially unique things to do at Disneyland) I hope you'll let me know. It's my favorite topic!

    Keep moving forward!
