Visiting Disneyland & DCA on Aug 29-30. We love thrill rides, nighttime shows, and scenery, but not characters or parades. With Oogie Boogie Bash on the 29th, is it worth going & miss WoC? Is 3 pm enough for 12 rides, or should we get park ticket?

    Hi there, Giovanna!

I am glad that you sent your question to planDisney. It sounds like your family knows the types of activities you want to prioritize during your trip to Disneyland Resort. With so many things to see and do in the theme parks, it is a good idea to create your "must-do" list!

Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party is my favorite After Hours Event at Disneyland Resort! Oogie Boogie Bash officially takes place from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., although party Guests can join day Guests by entering Disney California Adventure Park as early as 3:00 p.m. It is hard to predict how many attractions a Guest can ride during that time, but attraction wait times often significantly decrease as the party continues into the evening hours in my experience.

My family usually rides quite a few attractions during the Oogie Boogie Bash with low wait times, although we also focus on experiences unique to the event. My absolute favorite feature of the Oogie Bash Bash is Villian's Grove, a wonderfully enchanted grove filled with transcendent lighting and other-worldly sounds. It is unlike any other experience! The Treat Trails are also so much fun! Villians can be found at different locations along the trails, and they love luring Guests into their mischievous conversations. I know you mentioned you are not a fan of parades, but if you get a moment, I encourage you to check out the Frightfully Fun Parade. It kicks off with Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow and gets even better from there! On the other hand, if you are looking for low wait times, get in line while other Guests are waiting for the parade to start. It is a good time to squeeze in a few attractions!

In the end, it really just depends on your priorities. You can probably ride most of your "must-do" attractions at Disney California Adventure Park during the Oogie Boogie Bash if you want to skip all of the extra experiences. It is such a fun event, though, and I recommend enjoying at least a couple of the party-exclusive activities. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets usually disappear quickly, so get your tickets as soon as possible if you want to attend.

Giovanna, have a wickedly good time at Disneyland Resort! I hope you reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions.
