Welcome to planDisney, Natalie!
See that line where the sky meets Cinderella Castle? It calls me, and it sounds like it's calling you too. In just a few short weeks, you'll be able to answer that call as you embark on your vacation to
The Most Magical Place on Earth. Can you feel the excitement building as the days tick by?
There's no better place to be together than Walt Disney World Resort, especially during
The World's Most Magical Celebration. I bet you can't wait to be immersed in the magic making countless core memories on your upcoming vacation! Traveling with large groups of multiple families can sometimes feel a bit tricky to navigate, but no worries! Let's see if I can wave my magic wand and help you get ready for the ball.
Individual
Lightning Lanes are currently offered at two attractions in each of the four theme parks. You can purchase up to two per day per person via the Tip Board in your
My Disney Experience App. Disney Resorts Collection hotel Guests can purchase Individual Lightning Lanes starting at 7:00 a.m. on the day of use. All other Guests can make their purchase(s) at the official park opening time for the day. All you have to do is click on your Individual Lightning Lane selection, select all Guests in your party who will be utilizing the Lightning Lane entrance, and follow the prompts to complete your purchase.
I wish I could say bibbidi-bobbidi-boo and make it possible for each family to input their own payment information when one person is booking an Individual Lightning Lane, but it only has the option for a single payment method per transaction at this time. You can always make three separate transactions (one per family), but you run the risk of not being able to select the same redemption window if you do, because some selections sell out quickly. You run the same risk if one person from each family books the Individual Lightning Lane separately at the same time.
In November 2021, my large, multigenerational family utilized Lightning Lanes on several days of our vacation. Being able to book the same redemption window was important to us, so each family unit took a turn paying for the Individual Lightning Lanes for everyone. We used a saved credit card so we had the best shot possible at booking popular attractions that sell out quickly, like
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Alternatively, you could estimate how much each family will need to pay for the Individual Lightning Lanes for the duration of your trip. They can
purchase a Disney Gift Card for the approximate amount needed and give it to the person who will be paying for everyone's Individual Lightning Lanes at the time of booking. The person in charge of booking can consolidate the Disney Gift Cards onto a single gift card (up to $1,000 per gift card) via the
Disney Gift Card website and use it to pay for the Individual Lightning Lanes each day. This is my best suggestion to meet your party's needs.
Natalie, I hope this information is the perfect-fitting glass slipper for your vacation. If further questions arise or you need more clarity, please stop back by planDisney. We'd be happy to help! Enjoy every magical moment, and tell Mickey hi for me!
See ya real soon,
Alyssa
