Hi, we are visiting Disney world in May 2020 and my parents will be celebrating 50th wedding anniversary. We’d like to arrange something to celebrate this. I had thought of meal and watching fireworks however there four children in our party 1yr to 14yrs

    Hi Helen!

Walt Disney World is the perfect destination to celebrate an anniversary, especially a golden anniversary!  My husband and I were married at Epcot and love to celebrate our anniversary in the middle of the magic where it all began.

I highly recommend taking a Specialty Fireworks Cruise.  There are several boats to choose from that can seat up to 8, 10 or even 18 guests of all ages.  These are private boats that will take you around the lagoon and then stop right in front of Magic Kingdom Park for prime viewing of Happily Ever After or for the new fireworks show at Epcot.  Sodas, water and snacks are included in the price.  You can also order extras from Private Dining.  I recently went on a sailing for a birthday with girlfriends and we had a beautiful customized cake ordered and waiting for us when we boarded the boat.  The pricing you see on the website is a flat rate for the entire boat, not per person, so it's a great value for a large group.

These cruises sail out of Disney Resort hotel marinas and you have your choice of where you'd like to leave from.  Pairing the cruise with a delicious meal beforehand would make for the perfect evening.  We sailed from Disney's Contemporary Resort and had dinner at California Grill.  Since you have children with you, Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White is a fantastic dining experience.  The food is fantastic and it's a great character experience for adults and children.  I consider it an upscale character dining experience.  You can then sail right from Disney's Wilderness Lodge marina afterwards.

Another option for an evening spectacular would be to book a Dining Package.  These packages include dinner at select Table-Service restaurants and then reserved seating to one of the evening shows.  For example, Rivers of Light Dining Package at Disney's Animal Kingdom lets you choose from Tiffins Restaurant or Tusker House Restaurant (character dining) and then reserved seating to see Rivers of Light, which is a beautiful show on the water, but no fireworks.  The Fantasmic! Dining Package at Disney's Hollywood Studios lets you choose from three restaurants with reserved seating to see the show.

How about having a family photo session?  Disney Fine Art & Photography offers several photo session packages.  This would be a great way commemorate such a special occasion.  We have done the Mini Portrait Sessions a few times and always leave with gorgeous photos and memories.  Guests have the option of a handful of locations including Magic Kingdom Park!

Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
