We are visiting Disney world in January 2022. We have 6 adults, and 5 kids, two requiring a car seat. Mears express will be $530, for service that was complimentary 18 days earlier. Sunshine express starts 2/1. That won’t help us. What do you suggest?

Hey there, Cathy. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I see that you have a trip planned to the Most Magical Place on Earth in January. There is no better way to kick off a new year. You are going to have so much fun.

You are correct, Cathy. With the new year starting Disney's Magical Express Service is no longer going to be offered. Believe it or not, I actually remember a time when this wasn't offered when I was a kid. Luckily, there are several options on getting to Walt Disney World from the airport and back again.

My favorite method of getting to and from the airport is actually to use a rideshare service, Cathy. Both major companies service this area making it a great option. I do like to check both apps before calling a car since sometimes one company is running a special or discount.

Another idea is to rent a car. I've rented a car numerous times from the airport and it is really easy. Typically, you can find a deal for much less than the price that you've quoted above so I think this is something to check in to. Keep in mind, when you bring a car to a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you do have to pay for parking. However, you'll receive complimentary standard theme park parking so it kind of evens out.

A car service is also something to consider. This is what my parents did growing up and I know there are still several companies that offer this. A quick internet search will turn up several different companies. Cars can range from a Town Car, SUV, passenger van and if you are really fancy - even a limousine. They can provide roundtrip service, car seats and even help you with your luggage. It seems like this might be the perfect solution for your family.

I hope this has given you a few more ideas to research, Cathy. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

Have fun and happy new year!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
