I am visiting Disney World with my friend in a week. I usually visit with my family, and we all have sub-profiles on my mom’s email account. When I go with my friend, am I able to use my own email and reconnect my own Magic Band+ for these tickets?

Hi, Amanda! What an exciting adventure that's in store for you and your friend to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth together! I took my own daughter and her two best friends earlier this month to celebrate her birthday, and we had the most wonderful time being together at the Magic Kingdom Park!

Amanda, without knowing your age and reservation logistics, I'm going to try to give you some options to help you navigate connecting the profile that your mom currently manages for you to your reservation and ticket details for the trip coming up with your friend.

Once your MagicBand+ has been connected to a profile in My Disney Experience, it cannot be transferred; however, if it is connected to a managed profile, the ownership of the MagicBand+ can be merged to a new account once the child reaches a certain age. If you're at least 13 years of age, you are eligible to create your own My Disney Experience account, if you do not already have one. Once you have your own account, your mom can merge the account she currently manages to your account, thereby transferring all of your MagicBands, tickets, and reservation details along with it.

To complete this process, you will need to have your mom log into her My Disney Experience mobile app and follow these steps:

    • Click the three horizontal lines on the bottom right
    • Select "My Profile"
    • Select "Friends and Family"
    • Click on your managed profile
    • Select "Send Email" and have her enter the email associated with your personal My Disney Experience account. Once she sends this invitation and you accept it, it will transfer ownership of the account, including plans and MagicBands, to your new account.
This is the first step to Disney independence, Amanda!

Once your mom has successfully transferred your information to your account, you will want to also link your new account to the accounts of your friend and any other members of her family that you will be traveling with. If you already have tickets and plans under their accounts, they should be able to reassign them to you so that you can use your own MagicBand+ during the trip. Of course, if you run into any issues along the way, you can reach out to a Cast Member at the My Disney Experience, MagicBand, and MagicBand+ number for additional assistance over the phone.

Amanda, I hope this helps you to get all of your magical plans merged together so you can tap into the magic easily with your MagicBand+! I know you're going to have an amazing time making memories with your friend; if you have any more questions, feel free to come back and ask! I'd be happy to help again!

You've Got a Friend in Me,
    Alison
