Hi, we’re visiting Disney World for the first time with our 1.5-year-old. Does she need her own ticket, or does she enter with us? Can she receive a souvenir card? With only one day, which park do you recommend for a toddler? Thanks♡

    Hey there, Jennie!

I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you to planDisney, especially with such a fun question to kick things off! It looks like you’re planning a springtime visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, and truly, that is one of the most Bibbidi Bobbidi BEAUTIFUL times to be there.

How exciting that you’re celebrating your daughter’s very first trip! That’s such a magical milestone. I still remember my boys’ first visits like they happened yesterday. They’re 16 and 12 now, and I treasure all those special memories. You’re about to create so many joyful moments that you’ll look back on for years to come!

I’m excited to share some magical news: the tiniest Mouseketeers, children under 3, are considered special Guests of Mickey Mouse and don’t need a theme park ticket! Since your daughter is 1½ years old, this means she’s included. Woohoo!

To celebrate her very first visit, you can stop by any Guest Relations location in the theme parks or the front desk at your Disney Resort to pick up her complimentary “First Visit” Celebration Button! It’s such a sweet keepsake to remember this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

If you have just one day to spend in the parks, I would absolutely recommend Magic Kingdom. It just has the most to offer for little ones, especially for a first visit. There are so many gentle, colorful rides like “it’s a small world,” Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh that are perfect for younger kiddos. Plus, Fantasyland truly feels like stepping into a storybook.

You’ll also find character meet-and-greets, parades, Baby Care Centers, and plenty of spots to take a break if your little one needs some downtime. It’s such a sweet, memory-making park and a wonderful place to soak in all those first-visit moments together.

Since you’ve only got one park day, I’d definitely consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass for that day. It can be such a time-saver, especially when you’re trying to fit in as much fun as possible. You’ll be able to skip the regular standby line for select attractions, which really helps maximize your time.

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can purchase your Lightning Lane passes starting 7 days before your check-in date at 7:00 AM Eastern Time right on your My Disney Experience app. If you’re staying off property, your booking window opens 3 days before your park visit. Setting that reminder on your phone can make a big difference in snagging those top picks!

Jennie, I hope this helps as you get ready to celebrate your daughter’s very first visit! What a special time for your family. If any other questions pop up while you’re planning, you’re always welcome to stop by and see us at planDisney. We’re happy to help!

    Magical Wishes,

    Kami
