We are visiting Disney World for the very first time from 09-13April2022. I am not able understand the difference between Genie+ and lighting lane. Also, due to motion sickness, I am not going to take any rides, do I still need Genie+ for shows too?

    Hiya there, Dhaval!

I'm so glad you visited us at planDisney to help with the Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning process. I know that there are a lot of components to a Walt Disney World vacation, but I'm happy to help guide you in the right direction! Before I do so, I wanted to point out that your trip times up perfectly to visit the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, one of the most beautiful times of the year at Walt Disney World! An ode to springtime, you'll find yourself immersed in nature's beauty, surrounded by gorgeous flower arrangements and larger-than-life topiaries modeled after the most beloved Disney characters. Stop by the Outdoor Kitchens to get a taste of spring with some delicious bites from around the World Showcase. You're sure to have a blast!

Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane attractions are a newer addition to Walt Disney World, so many Guests are on the same magic carpet ride as you trying to figure out how to best utilize these tools! Disney Genie+ is a paid service that allows you to utilize the Lightning Lane for over 40 rides, character meetings and shows in all four parks. The Lightning Lane itself can be found right next to the standby line but boasts a much shorter wait for those with reservations. Basically, purchasing Disney Genie+ gives you access to using that lane for the rides and attractions you choose to reserve.

Disney Genie+ does allow access to the Lightning Lane for many shows, including the following:

    Mickey's Philhar Magic
Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage
    Disney Jr. Play & Dance
    Muppet*Vision 3D
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King
    Feathered Friends in Flight!
It's Tough to Be A Bug!
    Turtle Talk with Crush

Purchasing Disney Genie+ may be beneficial to have faster access to these shows, but since most of these have multiple showtimes per day, it likely isn't a necessity. I find Disney Genie+ to be most helpful for Guests who want to ride more rides without the long wait times. If you'd like to save that  $15/per day for a few extra Mickey-shaped treats, you could try the free Disney Genie service instead. This service, located within the My Disney Experience Mobile App will customize your day based on the preferences you select. You will be able to tell the Genie that you'd like to filter out the rides and just focus on shows and he will grant your wish by suggesting an itinerary for your park day that minimizes wait times at the attractions you would like to visit.

Individual Lightning Lane attractions, though similarly named, are not the same as the Lightning Lane itself. Individual Lightning Lane attractions are the highest-demand, more popular rides in all of the parks, including Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and Avatar Flight of Passage. In order to use the Lightning Lane for these attractions, you'll need to make an additional purchase for each one individually. Since you did say you don't plan to do many rides, Individual Lightning Lane purchases will not be for you.

Dhaval, I hope you have a wonderful time at the Most Magical Place on Earth!

    See ya real soon,
