Welcome to planDisney, Jennifer. I'm delighted to answer your question, as our family loves cooling off in Disney's Typhoon Lagoon! We have a toddler and an older child who is a competent swimmer, but for my own peace of mind, we have always used the complimentary life jackets available for both of them.
We rode both Mayday and
Miss Adventure Falls as a family recently. In my experience, our kids were allowed on all the rides with life jackets. Indeed there are many splashtastic experiences here for little ones -
Ketchakiddee Creek is an entire splash zone that is all height restricted with a maximum height of 122cm - meaning our kids could frolic around happily with lots of kids around their age. There are some little slides here and even a raft ride.
Around Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, you'll find many unrestricted height rides. Our whole family loves to loll about in
Castaway Creek. Your kids can use both life jackets and sit in their favorite inner tube on this lazy river that glides you around the Park. Our son loves the
Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool - just please be aware that the swell here is BIG! Think tidal rather than lapping waves. I have always found the Cast Members and Life Guards here highly attentive and reassuringly watchful over all water areas.
The final tip for Typhoon Lagoon is a little random and not swim-related, but the mini donuts available at the kiosk opposite the changing rooms are so good. Do you know that ravenous post-swim hunger? These are the perfect sweet treat to combat any hangry feelings!
I hope you and your family have the best time at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, Jennifer. If there is anything else I can help with, please reach out. Otherwise, I wish you blue skies and sunshine on your adventure, Louise.
