Hi, I will be visiting Disney for 2 weeks in April next year (2016) staying in the Grand Floridian. I will be traveling with my family and my son who will 4yr old - apart from animal/magic kingdom what else would you recommend? shows/things to do/see ???

    Claire:

If you're staying at Disney for two weeks, my first recommendation is for you to experience not only the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, but to also visit the other two theme parks as well--you've got plenty of time. Since it sounds like you've got both the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom covered, let me recommend a few things:

    • Epcot: Many feel this park is for grown ups. If you were visiting for only 3 or 4 days, I'd agree. However, I'd recommend you exploring some of the places that get overlooked and are perfect for your son's age: the games in the exit room of Spaceship Earth (especially the shuffleboard game), the Innoventions building in Future World, Club Cool where you can sample different soft drinks, and the Kidcot stops throughout the World Showcase. While the Agent P Adventure might seem for older kids, it will help keep his interest while you take in the World Showcase.
    • Hollywood Studios: Many of the characters that today's kids know as "Disney" are Pixar characters from the movies Cars and Toy Story. Don't miss Toy Story Mania, the Muppets in 3D and registering him for Jedi Training Academy.

With such a long stay in April, I'd also recommend you adding the Water Parks & More option to your tickets, enabling you to visit the water parks. Blizzard Beach provides slides that will be just right for him. My #1 recommendation for a dinner show is Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. It provides the right mix of fun and character interaction not to mention all-you-can-eat Mickey bars.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
