Visiting Disney September 11th-16th. The 11th is our son's 11th birthday & we were wondering if we should plan birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's or pay the extra to do Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? We can only afford to do one.

    Hi James!

Happy 11th birthday to your son!  What a wonderful way to celebrate.  Chef Mickey's is my favorite character dining restaurant, BUT I love Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  If your son loves to trick-or-treat for Halloween, I highly suggest spending the extra money and attending this special event.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a great way to see the Magic Kingdom at night AND dress up in your coolest costume WHILE partying the night away with your favorite Disney characters.  You will be given trick-or-treat bags when you walk through the gate or you can bring your own trick-or-treat bucket from home.  There are candy stations located throughout the park where you can fill up your bags as many times as you'd like!  You can also see a special Boo To You parade and a spectacular Villains Wishes fireworks show.  The best part about this party is that it is limited ticket event, so the crowds are manageable and the ride lines are not as long.

If this party doesn't sound like something your son would enjoy, I'm sure he wouldn't be disappointed with Chef Mickey's.  In fact, this is where I have reservations for my son's and daughter's birthday this year.  You can even arrange for a special cake to be brought to your table by calling the cake line at (407) 827-2253.  Here is lots of great information on cakes at Walt Disney World:  http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/disney-world-cakes-faq/

    Have a magical day!
