We are visiting Disney in June 2024 and I am looking at Magic Bands. There are 7 of us and I don't feel it is necessary to spend the $$ for the Magic Band+, however I am unable to find Magic Band 2 online anywhere. Are they discontinued?

    Hi Cory,

I completely understand the need to be frugal on a Disney World vacation. There is so much to see and experience there that you want to keep all of those dollars for souvenirs, food, and fun! I love utilizing a MagicBand+ because it makes things simple for me and I do not have to worry about getting anything out of my purse constantly for payments, lightning lanes, and tickets. However, there are alternatives.

Last week I forgot my MagicBand+ and did not want to buy another one, so I used Disney's MagicMobile service. It worked seamlessly for my park tickets, mobile ordering, virtual queues, Lightning Lanes, and PhotoPass images. If you are trying to save money and don't necessarily care about the convenience of not having to take out your phone then this is a free option for you. You also have the option to add MagicMobile to your digital wallet for use on an Apple Watch if you already wear one.

ShopDisney.com does not currently have any MagicBand 2 options available but I checked on My Disney Experience and if you are adding MagicBands to an existing resort reservation they do have some availability. The current price for those is $24.99 but that is subject to change. To check availability simply click on your reservation and scroll to "MagicBands and Cards." You will be able to add them here for delivery to your home ahead of your vacation. When I was at the theme parks last week they also had some MagicBand 2 options available in the stores and at the resort hotels.

If I were trying to save money for a large group, I would likely have the adults utilize MagicMobile and reserve buying MagicBands for the youngest members of my party who may not have access to a mobile device. Since MagicBands are readily available for purchase throughout Disney World if you don't like using your phone the first day, you can always purchase one while you are there and quickly activate it.

    Happy Planning
    Jenna
