We are visiting Disney for the first time. I have a 7, 5, &7mth. We are staying on site and I'm still debating whether I want a disney dining plan or go off-site for dinner. Do you think leaving Disney every day is reasonable / loses some of the magic?

    Hi Amy!

Congratulations on your first special vacation in Walt Disney World!   We are honored you stopped by to ask our opinions.

I am a frugal planner and really debated the usefulness of the Disney Dining Plan before I finally decided to give it a try one year.  Now I can't believe I didn't try it sooner!  Not only has my family found it to be a good value, it makes my vacation so much simpler and stress free.  Whenever we are hungry or want a snack, we don't think about how much it will cost - we simply order what we want and use our credits to pay.

Leaving your resort hotel every night to go out to eat will definitely create more time away from the magic, but more importantly it will cause more fatigue for your vacation.  It is so easy to pop over to the resort hotel's restaurant/food court rather than load up in a car and drive to a restaurant after a long (but fun!) day at the parks.  Don't underestimate the appeal of a relaxing meal by the pool!

There are a lot of Dining Plan tips on sites such as AllEars.net.  I suggest looking them over and seeing how selecting one of the Disney Dining Plans can make your vacation affordable and convenient.  One of my favorite ways to stretch our dining credits is to select a muffin as your dessert when using a counter service credit, and then save it for the next morning as quick breakfast in your hotel room.

I hope this helps you in making your decision Amy.  If you have any more questions, just stop by and visit us again here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  I hope your vacation is filled with Pixie Dust and Magic!

    Blessings,
