    We are visiting Disney for the first time 1/30-2/4 with our 3 1/2 & almost 5 yr old- 2 Questions: Is 5 days too short? Is the Deluxe dining plan toomuch? I fear waiting in restuarants for 2+ hours for more than 1 meal a day.Any advice wld be apprec.

    Thanks for coming to the Mom's Panel!

    First of all, any trip to Disney is too short when it's time to pack...but you'll have four solid days to visit the parks and a half day on either side. Just enough to wet the children's appetites and not leave you exhausted.

    As for the Deluxe Dining Plan, go with your hunch. You are exactly right that the Deluxe Dining Plan, which offers three table service meals a day, is way too much time in restaurants vs. the parks. In my experience, a table service meal takes about 1 1/2 hours. If you multiply that times 3, you're spending 4 1/2 hours eating!  And with children the ages of yours, it doesn't make the most sense--or cents. Worse, many families that choose the Deluxe Dining Plan and figure this out once they get there will wind up skipping meals or using the credits on counter service and losing its value.

    Stick with the basic Dining Plan that gives you one table service, one counter service and one snack per person per day. It will save you money on your children if you were planning on enjoying Character Meals, as one meal will cover almost two days of the plan for them! To ensure that you get the most of it, I recommend scheduling just one table service meal a day and making your reservations ahead of time at 407-939-3463, if you haven't already made them. Solid choices for you to consider: Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, Coral Reef, Teppan Edo, Biergarten, and Ohana.
