Pin collecting and trading is a great hobby to get into. I saw my kids having so much fun doing it that I even started a collection of my own. One of our favorite places to visit while we're hanging out at Downtown Disney is Disney's Pin Traders (the other is Goofy's Candy Co. but that's a different story!). At the Pin Trader Store you'll find a huge selection of pins that are conveniently grouped for easy shopping. I don't remember exactly the different categories pins are divided into, but I think they have sections for Parks, Resorts, Attractions, Characters, and so on. If you're looking for an Expedition Everest pin, for example, you'd look in the section labeled attractions. Of course, half the fun is perusing all the pins, not just searching for one in particular.
If you see a pin in one of the merchandise locations in a park, but put off buying it, you'll likely be able to find the same one somewhere else, and the price will be the same. Prices are always subject to change of course, but in my experience most of the pins are priced at either 6.95, 8.95, 10.95 or 12.95. The more basic pins typically sell for the lower price points while the larger or more complex pins are priced higher. That isn't to say that all of the pins will fall into that range, but most do.
In addition to the Pin Trader store at Downtown Disney, some of our other favorite pin shops are the Frontierland Trading Post in the Magic Kingdom and The Sorcerer's Hat at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
And for everything you need to know about pin trading, take a look at the
official pin trading web site. You can also view pictures of all the pins (retired to newly released) there. Happy trading!
