We will be visiting Disney in a couple weeks with extended family. My niece has a severe dairy allergy and is very concerned about where she will be able to eat. Where can we take her to get some fun treats and meals?

    Hello, Scott!

Welcome, and thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I hope you’re getting excited for your magical family vacation at the Disneyland Resort!

I have great news for you and your niece. The Disneyland Resort is extremely accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions due to common food allergies. Many restaurants, including sit-down and quick-service locations, offer allergy-friendly menus or alternate meal options. Your niece should plan to discuss her dietary needs with your restaurant server upon arrival, and she’s also welcome to speak with the chef or a Cast Member trained in special diets if she wishes.

Dairy-free snacks, such as fresh chilled fruits and vegetables, can be found throughout both theme parks at snack carts. The Disneyland Resort’s individually-wrapped pickles and pineapple spears are well-known and crave-worthy treats, even for those not avoiding dairy. I’ve also spotted pre-packaged cookies, trail mix and chocolate bars that are free of the eight most common allergens, including dairy. My favorite dairy-free dessert is one of the most iconic Disney treats: the Dole Whip! It’s served at the Tiki Juice Bar in Disneyland Park and is a pineapple-flavored soft serve delight. Keep in mind that it’s always a good idea to double check in person with regard to allergies before enjoying any food item, as ingredients and menus are subject to change.

Should your niece have specific questions she’d like addressed in advance, she (or her parents) can send an email to Special.Diets@Disneyland.com. I hope you find this information helpful, Scott. Please don’t hesitate to visit us again with more questions as you continue to plan your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

    Wishing you magic,
