I am visiting Disney for my anniversary next August and I am stuck between POFQ and POR. How long would the walk be to Riverside if I wanted to stay at FQ and go cane pole fishing at Riverside. I want things to be convenient.

    Rebecca:

My husband and I stayed at Port Orleans: French Quarter for a late anniversary trip and loved it. The resort provides a more intimate layout and is the smallest of all the resorts on property. The theme reminds you of the French Quarter down to its iron railings throughout the property. We asked for a building near the water and away from the beaten path. You can get to any room at the resort within an easy 5-minute walk.

A sidewalk along the Sassagoula River connects POFQ and Port Orleans: Riverside. Depending on where your room is located, the walk is a pleasant 10 minute stroll and very doable if you want to enjoy Riverside. If this doesn't sound convenient, though, consider requesting a King bedroom in the Magnolia Bend section of POR overlooking the river. It's what we call "fancy" here in the South and would allow easier access to the activities at POR.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
