Visiting 2013, my 60th birthday. Split stay. Reading panel looks like I have to check-in/out myself, also issues with dining plan covering both stays. Looks like many do this, is WDW doing something to make splits easier?

    Hi Steven!

A split stay is a great way to experience two different resorts.  It's also a great way to save costs; for example you can start your trip in a Value Resort and then switch to a Deluxe Resort at the end.  It is true, however, that Disney doesn't make a split stay easy; about the only thing they will do is move your luggage from your first resort hotel to your second resort hotel for you.  You will have to check out of the first resort and then check into the second.

A split stay is hard to do with tickets and the dining plan.  What I suggest is not doing a vacation package for the second hotel.  Instead, I suggest getting a Magic Your Way ticket that covers both of your stays.  I also suggest that if you want to get the Dining Plan, that you only do it on the first portion of your trip.

Good luck and write back if you have any more questions!
