I will be visiting around the third week in January for my three year old son's birthday. Is there any special events that are typically held in January at the parks or resorts? The only thing I've seen is something about a marathon. Thanks!

    Hi Kenitra ~

January is a great time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort! Crowd levels are typically lower and the weather is mild.

The 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will take place January 7th - 11th, 2015 so it will be over just before your visit. Right now, there are no special events planned at the theme parks or resorts for the week of your visit. Having said that, you never know what Disney will announce next. Keep your eyes on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements. You can subscribe to their daily emails so that you will be notified of new blog posts with all the latest exciting news.

There are some events planned mid-January 2015 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. You can check the ESPN Wide World Of Sports online calendar for winter events to see if your would like to attend any of them. It is a beautiful complex and we enjoy spending a relaxing day away from the parks there with our boys.

Here are some suggestions to celebrate a 3rd birthday for little buccaneers.

Please feel free to visit us again with all of your planning questions. We are hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
