Hi, we are visiting on April 4-6 with our granddaughter. We had to cancel her birthday party…So, I was hoping to take her to a character breakfast or lunch and maybe have a character sing happy birthday to her. But I can’t find any character meals. Help.

Hey Howdy Hey Quinette and welcome to planDisney!

I am so sorry to hear about your grandaughter's birthday being canceled. Sounds like this will be a Magical make-up party for her though, celebrating in the Most Magical Place on Earth will be amazing! So as I am sure you know from planning your trip, Covid has really changed the experiences available in Walt Disney World Resort and while many experiences have come back, many are either scheduled to or still waiting to fully return to their capacity as they were pre-Covid. This unfortunately includes the Disney Character meals. Don't lose hope yet because there are still quite a few you might be able to experience so let's talk about the available ones.

I will preface this talk on current character meals as subject to change because things seem to be doing so rapidly without a whole lot of notice recently. The options for character meals in the park include:
Options for character meals outside of the parks in resort hotels include:
While these options still do have characters at the meals, they still are not allowed to come up close and take pictures as they did pre-Covid. I would make sure to keep checking on your My Disney Experience app daily, maybe even a couple of times per day, if you really want to try to get these reservations. I have had the best luck looking for these hard-to-get reservations putting in a specific time for the reservations rather than just a general "lunch" option.

Now some things to ensure that you get some special attention for your granddaughter on her big day. I would make sure to either check at the front desk of your resort or visit Guest Relations in the parks to get your special Celebration buttons. These will ensure some extra special attention from Cast Members and who knows, maybe a little extra pixie dust to go along with it! The other lesser-known thing you might be able to have done is to have a special cake delivered right to your table. At specific dining locations throughout Walt Disney World, you can have a special celebration cake Magically delivered to your table for her big day. The final tip I have is with Disney Floral and Gifts. With this option, you can pick a special gift to have Magically delivered to your room for a special surprise.

I hope these options help to give you some ways to make your granddaughter's birthday celebration extra Magical. If you have any further questions let us know, we love talking about all things Disney.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Nick
