We’re visiting animal kingdom and Hollywood studios in March. What restaurants have gluten free options? My son is severely allergic to wheat.

    Hello, Jenny!

Welcome to Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so glad that you sent us this important question.

First, when dining throughout Walt Disney World, I have been impressed by a most comprehensive effort to meet Guests' specific dietary needs. With a little research, and a little preparation, you and your son will enjoy delicious gluten free options throughout the parks. For an overview, read through this explanation of Special Dietary Requests, including those for individuals who are allergic to wheat. Prior to arrival, please note the allergy disclaimer on that link and decide if you'd like more information using the email address included there.

Next, when making a dining reservation, be sure to note the allergy; upon being seated, ask to speak with either the chef or with a Special Diets-trained Cast Member who can help you navigate or customize menu options.

Many Walt Disney World restaurants post a sampling of their menus online, and some even post items that can be found on their allergy-friendly menus, too. At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Quick-Service and Table-Service restaurants that share online Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly menus include Flame Tree Barbecue (our favorite!), PizzafariRestaurantosaurus, and Satu'li Canteen. Yum!

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, restaurants that include Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly menu items online include ABC CommissaryBacklot ExpressCatalina Eddie'sDocking Bay 7 Food and Cargo,  PizzeRizzo, and Rosie's All-American Cafe. You can't go wrong with any of these.

In addition to these menu items that are posted online, most Table-Service restaurants offer Allergy-Friendly Menus upon request, and Cast Members at Quick-Service locations and Kiosks can walk you through an Allergy Guide, too, giving you and your son lots of delectable options as you dine around The World.

Happy planning, Jenny! Be sure to send us more questions as you think of them. We love to help!
