I have visited WDW 2 times, never been the planner. This is really overwelming. We have two 14 year olds and a 4 year old and i am trying to figure out the best way to make us all happy with our adventures. Lodging, food, entertainment, how long to stay.

    Robin:

    This is how I plan:
    1. Time of year:  What weather do you like? want to avoid? Are school dates accommodating?  If you're budget-minded, consider  "Value" season when rates are....a value!
    2. Length of stay: Keep in mind that the longer you stay, the cheaper your park tickets will be!  How about the Buy4/Get3 Free special right now?!
    3. Resort: Check out the Disney website under Discover....Themed-pool? Moderate or Deluxe!  Monorail/boat access to the parks?  Deluxe!  (Usually our budget determines where we'll stay. If that's you, I like the quick-glance rate charts at www.mousesavers.com under Walt Disney World then resorts and choose 2009 rates.)
    4. FUN: Disney's Magic Your Way tickets allow you to visit just one park a day or several with park hoppers! You can add the water parks and DisneyQuest, of course, at a price, so ask yourself if the cost is worth it to you.
    5. Which parks/What Days:  Because I like to plan our meals, I aim for certain parks on specific days before making dining reservations. We visit the smaller parks (Magic Kingdom and Disney Studios) on weekdays and Epcot and Animal Kingdom on the weekends when a larger park  absorbs crowds.
    6. Food/Entertainment: A character meal like Chef Mickey's for your 4-year-old or a movie at Sci-Fi Dinner Theatre for the teenagers?  OR just counter service and no planning.  Some that all will enjoy: 'Ohanas, Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon Cafe and the Hoop dee Doo Revue.  Browse the restaurants at www.allears.net under Dining if you want an in-depth look. Then call Disney's reservations at: 407-939-3463!
    Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
