We visited Disneyworld 3 years ago, the end of September. The weather and the crowds were perfect. We want to go back in 2010, but don't really want to miss school. How would the last week of August be crowd and weather wise?

    Hi Anita,

My family generally takes at least one of our Disney trips at the very end of August each year.  My parents are both retired teachers, and I'd have a hard time explaining why I was pulling my kids out of school to my mom!  The crowds at the end of the month are generally moderate in my experience, as many schools are back in session.  I will say, however, that the weather is just about always hot.  (Notice, I didn't say "warm.") Afternoon highs approach or surpass 90 degrees on most days.  My kids love swimming and the Disney Water Parks, so we often spend our mornings in a theme park and then head back to the resort for a swim when the sun is at its strongest, and head back for some more park fun in the evening.  On really warm days, we head to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.  It' hard to be hot when you are soaking wet!  We also love DisneyQuest, which is an indoor (air-conditioned!) virtual amusement park in Downtown Disney, and a great place to spend a really warm afternoon.

We've been visiting Disney during the month of August for years, expect the heat, and do fine with the weather.  We are from the northeast, and August in my neck of the woods isn't noticeably different than the weather in Florida at this time of year.  However, if anyone in your family is sensitive to hot weather, or prefers more moderate temperatures, I would take this into consideration when you schedule your vacation.

Whenever you visit, have a magical trip!
