On our visit to WDW, we plan on leaving for the afternoon to nap at the hotel and then returning to the park later in the day. We are staying off site. How long is the typical wait to reenter the park in the late afternoon? We are visiting the week of xmas

    Hi Luke!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Typically, I would say that an afternoon nap back at the resort is a great idea.  But, I will caution you about the week of Christmas crowds.

There is always the possibility that the parks will close due to capacity at some point during that week.  It usually only happens at the Magic Kingdom, but I did want you to be aware.  Touringplans.com has a great article on Walt Disney World closures for capacity and even lists the dates they have closed and what "phase"' closure was involved.

If you leave to take naps, I would allow at least an hour to an hour and a half to get through the parking toll, park, and ride the monorail into the Magic Kingdom.  Other parks won't take as long, but do allow plenty of time for travel and parking at all of them.  I would say 45 minutes to an hour for each park other than the Magic Kingdom.  (this is not including your drive time to them...only parking and getting inside)

When my boys were little, I would often try to get them to nap in the stroller to avoid leaving the parks on busy days.  But, you know your kids' needs best and if not getting a good nap would end up in a total meltdown, then that is definitely your priority!

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions leading up to your trip.
