Chris from NE Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

We visit WDW over Marathon weekend in January, staying in a non-DVC room for the trip. Still we waitlisted a DVC resort just in case. If our waitlist request doesn’t happen, can we bank those points (which need to be banked by the end of Sept if not).

Hey there, hi there, Chris! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with such a great Disney Vacation Club question.

Don't you just love being a DVC Member?! Knowing that your next magical adventure is always just around the riverbend is priceless. Because of this, I always say that Vacation Points equal magic, so let's make sure that not one single drop goes to waste, Chris!

Your deadline to bank your February 2022 Vacation Points is September 30, 2022, regardless of your waitlist status. To ensure those Points don't expire and go unused, I definitely recommend that you bank them for future use before your September 30th deadline. I also recommend keeping your waitlist active! Here's how!

You can actually borrow Points from your 2023 Use Year to confirm your reservation if your waitlist comes through, and that is what I would suggest to you in your situation. When you set up your waitlist, you were given the option to authorize borrowing or not to confirm your waitlisted reservation. If you authorized borrowing and your waitlist comes through, since your 2022 Points will be banked, the system will automatically borrow from your allotted 2023 Points to confirm the reservation. YAY! May no Point be left behind!

If you can't remember whether or not you authorized borrowing Points when you activated your waitlist, I recommend calling DVC Member Services or using the Chat feature online to ask and see if you can add the authorization to your current waitlist. This way, you can try to avoid deactivating this waitlist, starting a new one and losing your place in the waitlist line. Wishing you lots of luck and extra pixie dust!

I hope this was helpful, Chris, and I hope your waitlist comes through for your magical Marathon weekend! Please stop by any time with any planning or DVC questions you may have. You've got a friend in me!

    Adventure is out there!
