Walking distance to the food court and pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge can vary, depending upon room location.  That said, compared to some of the moderate resorts (Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach) you can expect standard rooms to be significantly closer to the center of the resort.  Both of the times that I stayed in a standard room at Animal Kingdom Lodge I was a quick elevator ride and short walk from the food court and pool area, and by quick walk I mean less than five minutes.  I wouldn't worry, Deborah.  You're sure to be wowed by the impressive lobby and great dining options at Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Enjoy!
