We are about to visit POR again for the 6th time.We have always favoured staying in Oak Manor but we are concerned about the possibility of additional noise associated with the new movie nights. Is noise heard in the rooms if staying on the courtyard side?

    Hi Lisa!

The Port Orleans Riverside Resort is so beautiful, isn't it?  With it's "Old South" theme, based upon the Mississippi Bayou area, you almost feel like you should be wearing your hoop skirt while you sit on your veranda sipping your sweet iced tea!!

You are correct, this resort has begun showing a Disney movie every night at 8:30 p.m. in the Oak Manor courtyard building.  I did call to speak with a Cast Member at the resort, and was told that, if you are staying in a room facing the courtyard, especially on ground level, you may be able to hear some of the noise from the movie itself.  These movies are usually over by 9:30 or 10:00 p.m.

If you request a room that is "higher up", and not facing the courtyard, according to the Cast Member, you should be alright, and hopefully not disturbed by the nightly noise.

I hope this is helpful, and that you enjoy a peaceful vacation at Walt Disney World!
