We have a visit planned for January. I understand there will be no Magical Express anymore. Can you tell me how to arrange transportation to the airport when arriving or lreaving.

Hey there, Charlene. Thanks for stopping by planDisney to chat about your question. I see that you have a trip planned to the Most Magical Place on Earth at the start of next year. I can't think of a better way to kick off a new year. You are going to have so much fun.

Charlene, you are correct, Disney's Magical Express Service will be ending at the end of this year. Walt Disney World will no longer be providing any transportation to and from the Orlando airport. You are on your own to find transportation, luckily there are many options that will get you to where you want to go.

The first, and my favorite option Charlene, is to simply use a ride-share service to get from the airport to Walt Disney World and back again. Ride-share service companies are readily available in the Orlando area and I find them to be quick, convenient and very affordable. Both major companies service the area so you can use your preferred one no problem. I actually like to check both apps before calling a car because sometimes one of them is running a deal or promotion. If you aren't as comfortable using a ride-share service, there are always traditional taxis ready and waiting at the airport. I find them to be a little more costly than a ride-share service but they are right there and another great option.

Another option would be to rent a car at the airport when you arrive. This is great because you'll have your own transportation throughout your stay. I pretty much always use my own transportation while at Walt Disney World now and I love driving myself to and from the theme parks throughout the day. It saves a lot of time and is very easy to navigate. If you do rent a car, there is a charge for parking at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels so you'll want to keep that in mind when you are budgeting things out. However, being an on-property Guest, you will receive complimentary theme park parking so that's a win in my book!

Charlene, you could also hire a car service to be waiting for you when you arrive at the Orlando area. A quick internet search will turn up several companies in the area that provide this service. Some of the car options are a Towncar, SUV, passenger van and if you want to arrive in style - even a limousine! Car services can help you with your luggage and even make a stop or two along the way. It's a pretty convenient service that I've used a few times.

The last option I can think of for you is something called Mears Connect. Mears is the company that Disney actually contracted out the Disney Magical Express Service out to. Since their contract has ended, they've started their own shuttle service that will basically be like what the Magical Express used to be. You can head over to their website to find out all of the details. This service does not start until January so I can't give you any personal experience of me using it just yet.

I hope I've given you some ideas to get you over to Walt Disney World for your vacation. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help.

    Have fun and enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
