Welcome to planDisney, Betsy! I'm thrilled to hear that you have an upcoming trip planned to Walt Disney World. Let's get your question answered so you can make all your plans and get those park passes finalized.
Having your park tickets does not increase your chances of a Disney Park Pass reservation. The park ticket is merely the key to unlocking the system and reserving that park for the day. As you already know, park reservations are limited in number and subject to availability. So you’ll need to check the
availability calendar to see which parks have Disney Park Pass reservations open. I’m not sure when you have planned your Walt Disney World vacation. But currently, I see that all of Thanksgiving week, Christmas Day, and December 31 are the dates where Magic Kingdom is not available.
But guess what? That can and will likely change as we get closer to those dates! If Magic Kingdom is not showing the date(s) that you would like available, be persistent! Guests are changing their plans all the time, and the
Disney Park Pass system is constantly updated with new openings.
You could always wait and see if the Magic Kingdom opens up with more reservations before purchasing your park tickets since it sounds like you have your heart set on that particular park. But I’ve found that it helped to already have my tickets loaded into our
My Disney Experience account so that when the reservation became available, I could just jump right on it!
Fingers crossed that it all works out for you and you get that magical day at Magic Kingdom. Betsy, please stop back by planDisney if you have any additional questions.
Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust!
