Hi! Going to visit in January with my family. We have been thinking about going over MLK holiday weekend, just to have another day off from school for my daughter, but I'm a little worried about the crowds. Will it be extremely crowded?

    Hi Lisa,

Once the New Year's holiday is over and kids are back in school, January becomes an ideal time to visit Walt Disney World if you're looking for light crowds - except over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend.  There are quite a few guests who, just like you, are looking to take advantage of the long weekend.

If you're concerned about your daughter missing too much school, I think you would be better off to shorten your vacation by a day.  You'll be able to see more attractions if you go on a slower week (even with one less day) than you would if you tried to go over the holiday weekend.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
