Hi Shirly,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Of course, I would never think you were crazy to plan such a trip. Christmas is the perfect time of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. You just need to plan!
Given that it will be incredibly busy, I suggest that you stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel. From Disney's Contemporary Resort, you will have access to the
Resort Monorail and
Water Transportation. You can also walk to Magic Kingdom from the resort. It is about a 10-minute walk. Although I have stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, the multiple transportation options at Disney's Contemporary Resort will alleviate some stress with your little ones in the crowds.
Shirly, when we stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort, we typically go to the parks in the morning and leave by early afternoon to take a nap or go to the pool. Then we return to a park in the evening or just hang out at the resort. We adore dining at
Chef Mickey's and
California Grill. If you get a Tower -Theme Park View Room, you could watch the Happily Ever fireworks from your balcony. To save money, we typically do a Garden View room in the Garden Wing. Our rooms have been close to the pool. If you choose the Garden Wing, be sure to check out one of the detailed resort maps online so that you have a general idea of the rooms closest to the main building. On our last stay, we had a first floor room with a beautiful view of Bay Lake but it was a bit of a walk from the main building!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
